ON JUNE 21ST, 2025, A BETTER LIFE FOUNDATION LAUNCHED A NEW INITIATIVE AIMED AT RECONNECTING URBAN INDIGENOUS YOUTH WITH THEIR CULTURAL ROOTS THROUGH FOOD.
Recognizing that language, history, and traditions can sometimes feel distant, we are leveraging food—a universal access point—to spark interest and rebuild cultural ties.
In consultation with hereditary Chief Ian Campbell of the Squamish Nation and guided by Steven Stark, Tsawwassen First Nation Member and ABLF board member, we provide two meals per week, incorporating traditional ingredients and recipes, to buildings with a high representation of Indigenous families. These meals are more than sustenance; they are an act of culture reclamation, reinforcing identify belonging.
