Plenty of Plates Facilitators

We’re incredibly fortunate to have a dedicated community of volunteers who make our work possible. Our priority is to ensure our current team feels engaged, supported, and set up for success. Right now, we’re experiencing more volunteer interest than we have available events, and with our small admin team, we’re working hard to expand opportunities in a sustainable way.

One of the areas we’re excited to grow is our team of Kitchen Facilitators. This role supports volunteer groups as they prepare their assigned course for a Plenty of Plates dinner. While it’s a lighter-touch, guiding role, you’re still right in the action: connecting with volunteers, supporting the flow of the evening, and being part of the kitchen magic.

A Kitchen Facilitator helps set up ingredients and tools, demonstrates how to safely use kitchen equipment, and keeps the group on track throughout the session. We’ll provide training on frequently asked questions, walk you through the kitchen layout, and make sure you feel confident before you begin. Plus, an ABLF team member is always onsite during evening events to support you.

Kitchen Facilitator Requirements:

  • Strong communication skills

  • Ability to keep the environment fun, welcoming, and engaging

  • Proactive and adaptable

  • Good time-management skills

  • Enjoys connecting with people and building community

  • Passion for food and helping others

  • Available at least once a month

If this sounds like the right fit for you, we want to meet you! Please help us by filling out the Volunteer Interest Form and attach your resume along with your application.

Volunteering with ABLF’s Plenty of Plates is a small but impactful contribution. As a facilitator, I cherish the opportunity to connect with people, sharing the importance of ABLF’s mission and the transformative power of human connection during POP events. It’s incredibly fulfilling to witness the positive impact on traditionally marginalized individuals and leave each event re-energized.

Recovery Meal Volunteers

Every weekday, we make 300 free meals for our community…out of food that would otherwise have been thrown out! Thanks to our community partners, the food that they rescue comes to us at the Recovery Kitchen at A Better Life Foundation where we turn it into nutritious meals for those in need.

We’d love to have you join us in the kitchen to prepare and serve the meals. Ideal times to volunteer are Monday to Friday between 9 am – 12 pm (although other times are possible up to 3 pm).

If that sounds like something you’d be interested in, please sign up to provide more details. Hope to see you in the Recovery Kitchen soon!
